Goals and Beliefs
We believe that humane
treatment is the only alternative to slaughter or public auction for abandoned, abused, neglected, and unwanted horses. Our
primary purpose is the provide a safe, loving home for these horses.
The Kill Market
For
years this has been the only alternative for abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted horses.
Transportation to slaughter houses is extremely inhumane, thus
increasing the abuse these animals suffer. Many of these horses are sick or injured before transporation; these conditions
are exacerbated, sometimes resulting in death, before reaching their final destination.
Last year 91,757 horses were killed in U.S. slaughter houses. Legislation
banning the slaughter houses in the United States has been passed in the House and is due to go before the senate.
Horses
formerly destined for the kill houses still need a safe and loving place to live out their lives. Mustangs R Horses Rescue
is a refuge offering a second chance for these horses.
Acceptance
Mustangs R Horses Rescue
will accept horses, of any breed, from owners who wish to relinquish ownership for any reason, including financial hardship.
Many of these horses are healthy and are in need of an adoptive family. Our goal after obtaining legal ownership of
surrendered horses, is to place them into suitable adoptive homes.
Adoption
Mustangs
R Horses Rescue adoption policies ensure that potential adoptive owners are thoroughly screened. Conducting interviews
with potential owners; scheduled meetings with candidates help to fit the right horse to the right person. Every effort
will be made to match a horse with a compatible owner or family that best suits the horse. Finally, a site inspection
is conducted to confirm that the horses new home is suited to their needs.
A Safe Haven
We
hope to serve as a shelter and provide care for legally impounded horses. We are dedicated to providing urgent care
for horses in peril and medical treatment for emaciated and/or injured horses, as well as, providing urgent care for horses
involved in natural disasters or emergencies.
Education
Commuity education about
America's Wild Mustangs as well as basic horse care is an important part of our mission.

Because Mustangs R Horses Rescue is strictly served by volunteers our mission can only be successful
if concerned people offer their assistance.
We operate solely by the generosity of others. Donations of cash, equipment, grain, hay and land for larger
facilities are needed to ensure the continuation of Mustangs R Horses Rescue.
